Hadith 4050
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو كَثِيرٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا يَسْتَامُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى سَوْمِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَشْتَرِيَ أَوْ يَتْرُكَ ، وَلا يَخْطُبُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَنْكِحَ أَوْ يَذَرَ " أَبُو كَثِيرٍ : اسْمُهُ يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أُذَيْنَةَ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No person should bid against his brother's bid until (the other person) buys it or leaves the deal, and no person should send a marriage proposal over his brother's proposal until (the other person) marries or leaves the proposal." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Abu Kathir is Yazid bin Abdur Rahman bin Udhaynah.
Hadith 4051
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا صَخْرُ بْنُ جُوَيْرِيَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا يَخْطُبُ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى خِطْبَةِ أَخِيهِ حَتَّى يَتْرُكَ الْخَاطِبُ الأَوَّلُ ، أَوْ يَأْذَنَ لَهُ فَيَخْطُبُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "No person should send a marriage proposal over the proposal of his brother until the first proposer leaves it or gives permission, then he may send a marriage proposal."
