Chapter on Sacrificial Animals – On the Prohibition of Eating the Rest of the Camel If It Was Slaughtered Due to Injury
Hadith 4024
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعُمَرِيُّ بِالْمَوْصِلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعَلَّى بْنُ مَهْدِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الأَسْلَمِيَّ ، وَبَعَثَ مَعَهُ ثَمَانَ عَشْرَةَ بَدَنَةً ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ أُزْحِفَ عَلَيَّ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ ؟ ، قَالَ : " انْحَرْهَا ، ثُمَّ اصْبِغْ نَعْلَهَا فِي دَمِهَا ، ثُمَّ اضْرِبْ بِهِ صَفْحَتَهَا ، وَلا تَأْكُلُ مِنْهَا أَنْتَ ، وَلا أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ رُفْقَتِكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) and sent with him eighteen sacrificial camels. He (Aslami) asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! What is your opinion, if any of these animals becomes unable to travel (what should I do)? The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sacrifice it, then dye its shoes (i.e., the shoes that are hung around its neck as a garland) in its blood and mark its side with them. Do not eat from it yourself, nor should any of your companions eat its meat.
