Chapter on Sacrificial Animals – On Clarifying That the Butcher Is Not to Be Given Any of the Sacrificial Animal as Payment
Hadith 4022
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْمَرٍ الْبَحْرَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، أَنْ مُجَاهِدًا أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ أَبِي لَيْلَى ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُقِيمَ عَلَى بُدُنِهِ ، وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يُقَسِّمَ بُدْنَهُ كُلَّهَا لُحُومَهَا ، وَجُلُودَهَا ، وَجِلالَهَا لِلْمَسَاكِينِ ، وَلا يُعْطِي فِي جِزَارَتِهَا مِنْهَا شَيْئًا " .
Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed him to look after the sacrificial animals of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to distribute all the meat of those sacrificial animals, their skins, and their coverings among the poor, and not to give anything from them (as payment) to the one performing the sacrifice.
