Chapter on Sacrificial Animals – On Permitting the One Driving the Sacrificial Animal to Ride It If He Wishes
Hadith 4016
أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ بِطَرَسُوسَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْبَلْخِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : رَأَى النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلا يَسُوقُ بَدَنَةً ، قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا " ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا " ، قَالَ : إِنَّهَا بَدَنَةٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " ارْكَبْهَا " ، قَالَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ وَالرَّابِعَةِ : " ارْكَبْهَا وَيْلَكَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saw a man who was taking a sacrificial animal along with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ride on it. He replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! This is a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ride on it. He replied: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! This is a sacrificial animal. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Ride on it. The third or fourth time, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: May you be ruined, ride on it.
