Chapter on Sacrificial Animals – On the Report Refuting the Claim That Qatadah Did Not Hear This Report from Abu Hassan
Hadith 4002
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا حَسَّانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ : " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّى الظُّهْرَ بِذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ ، ثُمَّ دَعَا بِبَدَنَةٍ ، فَأَشْعَرَهَا مِنْ صَفْحَةِ سَنَامِهَا الأَيْمَنِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَتَ الدَّمَ عَنْهَا ، وَقَلَّدَهَا نَعْلَيْنِ ، ثُمَّ أَتَى بِرَاحِلَتِهِ ، فَلَمَّا قَعَدَ عَلَيْهَا وَاسْتَوَتْ بِهِ الْبَيْدَاءُ ، أَهَلَّ " .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Zuhr prayer at Dhul-Hulaifah, then he had the sacrificial camel brought to him. He marked it on the right side of its hump, then he let its blood flow and put a necklace of sandals on it. Then the Prophet’s mount was brought to him, and he mounted it. When his mount stood in the open field, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) began reciting the Talbiyah.
