Chapter on Sacrificial Animals – On Recommending Marking the Sacrificial Animal for Those Bringing It to the Sacred House, Following the Prophet
Hadith 4000
أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِي بِالْبَصْرَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَسَّانَ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنْ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا أَتَى ذَا الْحُلَيْفَةِ أَشْعَرَ الْهَدْيَ فِي جَانِبِ السَّنَامِ الأَيْمَنِ ، ثُمَّ أَمَاطَ الدَّمَ ، وَقَلَّدَهُ نَعْلَيْهِ ، ثُمَّ رَكِبَ رَاحِلَتَهُ ، فَلَمَّا اسْتَوَتْ بِهِ الْبَيْدَاءُ ، أَحْرَمَ وَأَهَلَّ بِالْحَجِّ " .
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reached Dhul-Hulaifah, he marked the left side of the hump of the sacrificial animal, then he cleaned the blood and put a necklace made of shoes around the animal’s neck. Then the Prophet (peace be upon him) mounted his ride, and when his ride stopped at the place of “Bayda,” the Prophet (peace be upon him) entered into Ihram and began reciting the Talbiyah for Hajj.
