Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) was riding behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). A woman from the tribe of Khath’am came to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to ask a question. Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him) began to look at her and she began to look at Sayyiduna Fadl (may Allah be pleased with him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned Sayyiduna Fadl’s (may Allah be pleased with him) face to the other side. The woman said: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)! Allah Almighty has made Hajj obligatory upon His servants. It has become obligatory upon my elderly, aged father who does not have the ability to sit on a mount. Should I perform Hajj on his behalf? The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Yes. (The narrator says) This incident took place during the Farewell Pilgrimage.
