Hadith 3988
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ عَزْرَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعَ رَجُلا ، يَقُولُ : لَبَّيْكَ عَنْ شُبْرُمَةَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ شُبْرُمَةُ ؟ " ، قَالَ : أَخٌ لِي ، أَوْ قَرَابَةٌ ، قَالَ : " هَلْ حَجَجْتَ قَطُّ ؟ " ، قَالَ : لا ، قَالَ : " فَاجْعَلْ هَذِهِ عَنْ نَفْسِكِ ، ثُمَّ احْجُجْ عَنْ شُبْرُمَةَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : قَوْلُهُ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَاجْعَلْ هَذِهِ عَنْ نَفْسِكَ " أَرَادَ بِهِ الإِعْلامَ بِنَفْيِ جَوَازِ الْحَجِّ عَنِ الْغَيْرِ إِذَا لَمْ يَحُجَّ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ ، وَقَوْلُهُ : " ثُمَّ احْجُجْ عَنْ شُبْرُمَةَ " أَمْرُ إِبَاحَةٍ لا حَتْمٍ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) heard a man saying: “I am present to perform Hajj on behalf of Shubrumah.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: “Who is Shubrumah?” He replied: “He is my brother” (the narrator is unsure, perhaps he said:) “He is my relative.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: “Have you performed Hajj for yourself?” He replied: “No.” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Then perform this (Hajj) for yourself, and afterwards perform Hajj on behalf of Shubrumah.” (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The statement of the Prophet (peace be upon him), “perform it for yourself,” by this the Prophet (peace be upon him) intended to inform that when a person has not performed Hajj for himself, it is not permissible for him to perform Hajj on behalf of someone else. And the statement of the Prophet (peace be upon him), “then perform Hajj on behalf of Shubrumah,” this command is for permissibility, not for obligation.
