Hadith 3977
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ الْكِنْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَحْرَمَ الْقَوْمُ كُلُّهُمْ غَيْرِي ، فَرَأَيْنَا حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ ، فَأَسْرَجْتُ وَأَلْجَمْتُ ، ثُمَّ رَكِبْتُ ، وَأَخَذْتُ الرُّمْحَ ، وَنَسِيتُ السَّوْطَ ، فَسَأَلْتُهُمْ أَنْ يُنَاوِلُونِيهِ فَأَبَوْا ، فَنَزَلْتُ فَأَخَذْتُ سَوْطِي ، ثُمَّ ضَرَبْتُ الْحِمَارَ فَعَقَرْتُهُ ، فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ ، وَتَرَكَ بَعْضٌ ، فَلَمَّا أَتَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " قَدْ أَصَابَ الَّذِينَ أَكَلُوا ، هَلْ مَعَكُمْ مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ " ، قَالَ : قُلْنَا : نَعَمْ هَذِهِ رِجْلٌ ، فَأَكَلَ مِنْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I set out with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him); all the other people had put on Ihram except me. We saw a wild donkey (i.e., a zebra), so I put a saddle on (my horse), put on the bridle, and mounted it. I took hold of a spear, but forgot to pick up a stick. I said to my companions: Hand me the stick, but they did not comply with my request. I got down from the horse, picked up my stick, then attacked the zebra and killed it. Some people ate its meat and some did not. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) arrived, he said: Those who ate its meat did the right thing. Do you have any part of its meat with you? We said: Yes, here is a leg. So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ate it.
