Hadith 3974
أَخْبَرَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورُ بْنُ أَبِي مُزَاحِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ رُفَيْعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ فِي نَاسٍ مُحْرِمِينَ ، وَأَبُو قَتَادَةَ حَلَّ ، فَأَبْصَرَ الْقَوْمُ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ ، فَلَمْ يُؤْذِنُوهُ حَتَّى أَبْصَرَهُ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ ، فَقَعَدَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ فَرَسٍ ، وَاخْتَلَسَ مِنْ بَعْضِهِمْ سَوْطًا ، فَحَمَلَ عَلَى الْحِمَارِ فَصَرَعَهُ ، فَأَتَاهُمْ بِهِ ، فَأَكَلُوا ، وَحَمَلُوا ، فَلَقُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَسَأَلُوهُ عَمَّا صَنَعَ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلْ أَشَارَ إِلَيْهِ إِنْسَانٌ مِنْكُمْ بِشَيْءٍ أَوْ أَمَرَهُ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : لا ، قَالَ : " فَكُلُوهُ " .
Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) was present with some people who were in the state of Ihram, while Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) was not in Ihram. The people saw a wild donkey (i.e., a zebra), but they did not inform Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) about it, until Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) himself saw it. He was sitting on his horse, took a stick from one of those gentlemen, attacked the zebra and killed it. Then he brought its (meat) to those gentlemen, and they ate it and also kept some of its meat with them. When they met the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), those gentlemen asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) about the action of Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Did any of you point towards (the prey) or order him (to hunt)?" They replied: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then you may eat it."
