Chapter on What Is Permitted and Not Permitted for the Muhrim – On a Report That May Seem Contradictory to the Report of Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah
Hadith 3970
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانِ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ الصَّعْبَ بْنَ جَثَّامَةَ " أَهْدَى لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَجَزَ حِمَارَ وَحْشٍ بِقُدَيْدٍ وَكَانَ مُحْرِمًا ، فَرَدَّهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: Sayyiduna Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him) presented the hind leg of a wild donkey (i.e., zebra) to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) at the place of Qudayd. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was in the state of Ihram at that time, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not accept it.
