Hadith 3966
Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah narrates that Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with a group of people who were in the state of Ihram, while Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) himself was not in Ihram. A wild donkey (zebra) appeared before those people. The companions did not inform Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) about it, until he himself saw it. He was sitting at that time; he took their staff, attacked it, and killed it. He brought it to his companions, and they ate its meat. They also kept some of it with them. When these people presented themselves before the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) and asked him about this matter, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) inquired: "Did any of you (in the state of Ihram) point towards it?" They replied: "No." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then eat it."
Hadith 3967
Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates the statement of Sa'b bin Jaththamah (may Allah be pleased with him): He presented the meat of a wild donkey (i.e., zebra) to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) at the place of "Abwa" or perhaps "Waddan." The Prophet (peace be upon him) did not accept it. This caused me distress. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) saw the signs (of distress) on my face, he (peace be upon him) said: We do not return it to you except that we are in the state of Ihram.
Hadith 3968
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I asked Sayyiduna Zaid bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him): Do you know about this matter, that a part of a hunted animal was presented as a gift to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) while he was in the state of Ihram, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) returned it (i.e., did not accept it)? Sayyiduna Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: Yes.
