Chapter on What Is Reported About the Hajj and Umrah of the Prophet – On a Report That May Seem Contradictory to the Report of Anas ibn Malik
Hadith 3933
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَبَّيْكَ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَحَجَّةٍ " ، قَالَ حُمَيْدٌ : حَدَّثَنِي بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمُزَنِيُّ ، أَنَّهُ ذَكَرَ حَدِيثَ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، لابْنِ عُمَرَ ، فَقَالَ : وَهَلْ أَنَسٌ أَفْرَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْحَجَّ ، قَالَ : فَذَكَرْتُ قَوْلَ ابْنِ عُمَرَ لأَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، فَقَالَ : مَا يَحْسَبُ ابْنُ عُمَرَ إِلا أَنَّا صَبِيَّانِ .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: I am present for Hajj and Umrah. The narrator named Humaid states: Bakr bin Abdullah Muzani told me this. I narrated the hadith of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so he said: Have I forgotten? (I think) the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) performed only Hajj. The narrator says: I told Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) the statement of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so he said: Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) thinks that we are children.
