Chapter on Tamattu’ – On the Prophet’s Command to His Companions Who Entered Ihram for Umrah Without Sacrificial Animals to Exit Ihram
Hadith 3926
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَجَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ ، فَمِنَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ ، وَمِنَّا مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ وَأَهْدَى ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ ، فَلَمْ يُهْدِ فَلْيَحِلَّ ، وَمَنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ فَأَهْدَى ، فَلا يَحِلَّ ، وَمَنْ أَهَلَّ بِحَجٍّ ، فَلْيُتِمَّ حَجَّهُ " ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَكُنْتُ مِمَّنْ أَهَلَّ بِعُمْرَةٍ .
Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: On the occasion of the Farewell Pilgrimage, we set out with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Among us, some were reciting the Talbiyah for Hajj only, and some were reciting the Talbiyah for Umrah only and had also brought a sacrificial animal with them. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Whoever is reciting the Talbiyah for Umrah and has not brought a sacrificial animal with him should exit the state of Ihram, and whoever is reciting the Talbiyah for Umrah and has brought a sacrificial animal with him should not exit the state of Ihram. Whoever is reciting the Talbiyah for Hajj should complete his Hajj. Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: I was among those who were reciting the Talbiyah for Umrah.
