Chapter on Tamattu’ – On the Reason Why the Prophet Commanded Them to Exit Ihram While He Did Not Do So Himself
Hadith 3925
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ ، أَنَّهَا قَالَتْ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : مَا شَأْنُ النَّاسِ ، حَلُّوا وَلَمْ تَحِلَّ أَنْتَ مِنْ عُمْرَتِكَ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنِّي لَبَّدْتُ رَأْسِي ، وَقَلَّدْتُ هَدْيِي ، فَلا أَحِلُّ حَتَّى أَنْحَرَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her) submitted to the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), "What is the reason that people have ended their state of Ihram, but you have not ended your Ihram after performing Umrah?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "I have kept my hair in place and have brought the sacrificial animal with me, so until I offer the sacrifice, I will not end my Ihram."
