Stoning the Jamarat During the Days of Tashreeq – On the Description of the Pilgrims’ Prayers in Mina During Their Stay
Hadith 3893
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُقْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي بِمِنًى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَعُمَرُ ، وَعُثْمَانُ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى عُثْمَانُ بَعْدَ أَرْبَعًا ، وَكَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يُصَلِّي مَعَ الإِمَامِ بِصَلاتِهِ ، فَإِذَا صَلَّى وَحْدَهُ صَلَّى أَرْبَعًا " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform two rak'ahs in Mina. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), and Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) also performed (only two rak'ahs). Then after that, Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) started performing four rak'ahs there. Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) used to perform the prayer according to the Imam when following him, but when he prayed alone, he would perform four rak'ahs.
