Stoning the Jamarat During the Days of Tashreeq – On Permitting al-Abbas and His Family to Spend the Nights of Mina in Mecca for Providing Water
Hadith 3889
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ : " أَنَّ الْعَبَّاسَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ اسْتَأْذَنَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَبِيتَ بِمَكَّةَ لَيَالٍ مِنْ أَجْلِ سِقَايَتِهِ فَأَذِنَ لَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Abbas bin Abdul Muttalib (may Allah be pleased with him) sought permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) to spend the nights of Mina in Makkah. The reason for this was that he had to provide water (to the pilgrims), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) granted him permission.
