Ibn Hibban

Sayyiduna Abu Bakrah (may Allah be pleased with him), while mentioning the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), states: The Prophet was standing on his camel, whose reins were being held by someone (the narrator is unsure about a word here). The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What day is it today?" We remained silent, thinking perhaps he would give it a name other than its usual one. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is it not the Day of Sacrifice?" We replied: "Yes." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What month is this?" We remained silent, thinking perhaps he would give it another name. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is it not Dhul-Hijjah?" We replied: "Yes." The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "What city is this?" We remained silent, thinking perhaps he would give it another name. The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked: "Is it not the sacred city?" We replied: "Yes!" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your lives, your wealth, and your honor are as sacred to one another as this day is in this month in this city. Beware! Let every present person convey this message to the absent, for it may be that the one to whom it is conveyed will preserve it better than the one who heard it."
