Entering Mecca - Permissibility of speaking during tawaf, even though tawaf is like prayer
Hadith 3836
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُتَوَكِّلِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الطَّوَافُ بِالْبَيْتِ صَلاةٌ ، إِلا أَنَّ اللَّهَ أَحَلَّ فِيهِ الْمَنْطِقَ ، فَمَنْ نَطَقَ ، فَلا يَنْطِقُ إِلا بِخَيْرٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Circumambulating the House of Allah (the Ka'bah) is also like performing prayer, except that Allah the Exalted has permitted talking during it. So whoever speaks (while performing tawaf), he should only speak good words."
