Ihram - Permission for a pilgrim to assume ihram with the intention of another if he knows of it, even if he did not hear it directly
Hadith 3776
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السَّامِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمُ بْنُ حَيَّانٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مَرْوَانَ الأَصْفَرَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا قَدِمَ مِنَ الْيَمَنِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " بِمَ أَهْلَلْتَ ؟ " ، قَالَ : أَهْلَلْتُ بِمَا أَهَلَّ بِهِ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " فَإِنِّي لَوْلا أَنَّ مَعِيَ الْهَدْيَ لَحَلَلْتُ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports: Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) returned from Yemen. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked him: "What intention did you make for Ihram?" He replied: "I made the same Ihram as the Messenger of Allah made." So the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If I had a sacrificial animal with me, I would have come out of Ihram."
