Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "The space between my house and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise, and my pulpit will be upon my cistern (Hawd)." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): Regarding the words transmitted in both these narrations, we have already explained in our books that the Arabs, in their idiom, sometimes use the name of the intended thing for its cause. When a Muslim, by obeying Allah near the pulpit of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, attains closeness to Him and hopes for acceptance and the reward of Paradise, then here the name of the intended thing, which is Paradise, is used for its cause, which is the pulpit.
