Virtues of Medina - The Prophet’s (peace be upon him) prayer for increased blessings in Medina
Hadith 3744
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْهَاشِمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مَرْوَانَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعُثْمَانَيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْعَلاءُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قِيلَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، صَاعُنَا أَصْغَرُ الصِّيعَانِ ، وَمُدُّنَا أَصْغَرُ الأَمْدَادِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ لَنَا فِي صَاعِنَا ، وَمُدِّنَا ، وَقَلِيلِنَا ، وَكَثِيرِنَا ، وَاجْعَلْ مَعَ الْبَرَكَةِ بَرَكَتَيْنِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: It was submitted, "O Messenger of Allah! Our (people of Madinah's) sa’ is the smallest sa’ and our mudd is the smallest mudd." So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "O Allah! Put blessing for us in our sa’ and mudd and in what is little and what is much for us, and along with this blessing, grant us two more blessings."
