Virtues of Medina - Medina will intercede on the Day of Judgment for those who die there from the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) nation
Hadith 3742
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنِ الصُّمَيْتَةَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي لَيْثٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُهَا ، تُحَدِّثُ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ أَنَّهَا ، سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ لا يَمُوتَ إِلا بِالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَلْيَمُتْ بِهَا ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ يَمُتْ بِهَا ، تَشْفَعْ لَهُ ، وَتَشْهَدُ لَهُ " .
Sayyidah Safiyyah bint Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: She heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saying: "Whoever among you is able to die in Madinah should do so, because whoever dies here, I will intercede for him (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words:) 'I will bear witness for him.'"
