Virtues of Medina - The people of Medina are among the best, and those who leave it out of dislike are among the worst
Hadith 3734
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنِ الْعَلاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " يَأْتِي عَلَى النَّاسِ زَمَانٌ ، يَدْعُو الرَّجُلُ ابْنَ عَمِّهِ ، وَقَرِيبِهِ : هَلُمَّ إِلَى الرَّخَاءِ هَلُمَّ إِلَى الرَّخَاءِ ، وَالْمَدِينَةُ خَيْرٌ لَهُمْ لَوْ كَانُوا يَعْلَمُونَ ، وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا يَخْرُجُ أَحَدٌ مِنْهَا رَغْبَةً عَنْهَا إِلا أَخْلَفَ اللَّهُ فِيهَا خَيْرًا مِنْهُ ، أَلا إِنَّ الْمَدِينَةَ كَالْكِيرِ تُخْرِجُ الْخَبَثَ ، وَلا تَقُومُ السَّاعَةُ حَتَّى تَنْفِيَ الْمَدِينَةُ شِرَارَهَا كَمَا يَنْفِي الْكِيرُ خَبَثَ الْحَدِيدِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A time will come upon the people when a man will call his paternal cousins and close relatives, saying, 'Come towards ease, come towards ease,' whereas if they knew, Madinah would be better for them. By the One in Whose Hand is my soul! Whoever leaves here out of dislike, Allah the Exalted will grant (Madinah) someone better than him. Beware! Madinah is like a furnace, which removes impurities, and the Hour will not be established until Madinah expels its evil people just as a furnace removes the impurities (or rust) of iron."
