Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) looked towards the mountain of Uhud and said: "Indeed, Uhud loves us and we love it." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): The statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "A mountain that loves us and we love it," refers to the people living on the mountain. Its example is the statement of Allah Almighty: "So, because of their disbelief, the love of the calf was cast into their hearts," meaning the love of the calf, and its example is also the statement of Allah Almighty: "Ask the town," meaning the people living in the town. And (the words mentioned in the hadith) refer to the people of Madinah. So here, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used the words of the hadith in such a way that the mountain, which is Uhud, is intended to mean Madinah Munawwarah, so this will be in the sense of proximity and neighborhood between the two.
