Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the day of the conquest of Makkah, when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered (Makkah), he was wearing a black turban. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): In the narration transmitted from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), it is mentioned that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered Makkah, there was a helmet on his blessed head, whereas in the narration transmitted from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him), it is mentioned that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered Makkah, he was wearing a black turban. Although the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) entered Makkah without Ihram only once, and that was the day of the conquest of Makkah, so it is possible that on that day the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) wore a helmet on his head and over it tied a black turban. Thus, Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned the turban which he saw, and Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) mentioned the helmet which he saw, so in this way, there will be no contradiction or difference between the two narrations.
