Virtues of Mecca - Prohibition of killing a Qurayshi in the Sanctuary unless he commits a capital offense
Hadith 3718
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ زَكَرِيَّا ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَامِرٌ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُطِيعٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُطِيعًا ، يَقُولُ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ يَوْمَ فَتْحِ مَكَّةَ : " لا يُقْتَلُ قُرَشِيٌّ صَبْرًا بَعْدَ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ " ، وَلَمْ يُدْرِكِ الْمُسْلِمُونَ أَحَدًا مِنْ كُفَّارِ قُرَيْشٍ غَيْرَ مُطِيعٍ ، وَكَانَ اسْمَهُ الْعَاصِ ، فَسَمَّاهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُطِيعًا .
Sayyiduna Muti’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying on the day of the conquest of Makkah: “From today until the Day of Judgment, no Quraishi will be killed while being bound.” On that day, among the disbelievers of Makkah, only Sayyiduna Muti’ (may Allah be pleased with him) came into the hands of the Muslims; his name was ‘Asi, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) named him Muti’.
