Hadith 3663
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْقَيْسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، " أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَعْتَكِفُ فِي الْعَشْرِ الأَوَاخِرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ ، فَسَافَرَ وَلَمْ يَعْتَكِفْ ، فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْعَامِ الْمُقْبِلِ ، اعْتَكَفَ عِشْرِينَ يَوْمًا " .
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to observe i'tikaf during the last ten days of Ramadan. Once, he traveled and did not observe i'tikaf. When the next year came, he observed i'tikaf for twenty days.
