Voluntary Fasting - Clarification that one may fast the three days at any time during the month
Hadith 3654
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ الرِّشْكِ ، عَنْ مُعَاذَةَ ، قَالَتْ : قُلْتُ لِعَائِشَةَ " أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصُومُ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : نَعَمْ ، قُلْتُ : " مِنْ أَيِّهِ ؟ " ، قَالَتْ : لَمْ يُبَالِ مِنْ أَيِّهِ صَامَ .
A woman named Mu’adhah narrates: I asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): Did the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) observe three fasts every month? She replied: Yes. I asked: On which days? She said: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) did not mind on which days he would fast.
