Voluntary Fasting - Allah’s favor in granting those who fast the white days the reward of fasting the whole year
Hadith 3651
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الُوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ سِيرِينَ ، سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الْمَلِكِ بْنَ الْمِنْهَالِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُهُمْ بِصِيَامِ الْبِيضِ ، وَيَقُولُ : " هِيَ صِيَامُ الدَّهْرِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : الْمِنْهَالُ هُوَ ابْنُ مِلْحَانَ الْقَيْسِيُّ ، لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ ، وَلَيْسَ فِي الصَّحَابَةِ مِنْهَالٌ غَيْرُهُ .
Abdul Malik bin Minhal narrates from his father: He was with the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). He narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to command the fasting of the bright days. He used to say: This is equivalent to fasting all the time (i.e., it is equivalent to fasting the whole month). (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): The narrator named Minhal is the son of Milhan Qaisi. He is a companion of the Messenger. Among the companions, no one else is named Minhal.
