Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Bedouin brought some roasted meat to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He also brought its gravy along with it. He placed it before the Prophet (peace be upon him), but the Prophet (peace be upon him) withheld his hand and did not eat it. He instructed his companions to eat it. The Bedouin also did not eat it. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked him: Why are you not eating? He replied: I fast three days every month. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: If you must fast, then fast on the bright days. (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, said:): Musa bin Talhah heard this narration from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and he also heard this narration from Ibn Huwatkiyyah on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), so both chains are preserved.
