Voluntary Fasting - A report that may seem to contradict the reports of Aisha and Ibn Mas’ud mentioned earlier
Hadith 3647
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ ، بِجُرْجَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَائِشَةَ ، قُلْتُ : يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، كَيْفَ كَانَ عَمَلُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، كَانَ يَخُصُّ شَيْئًا مِنَ الأَيَّامِ ؟ قَالَتْ : " لا ، كَانَ عَمَلُهُ دِيمَةً ، وَأَيُّكُمْ يَسْتَطِيعُ مَا كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَطِيعُ ؟ " .
Alqamah narrates: I asked Umm al-Mu'mineen Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her): I said, O Umm al-Mu'mineen! How was the practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)? Did he specify any particular day? She replied: Yes! The practice of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was regular, and who among you has the ability which the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) had?
