Abdul Malik bin Umair, narrating from a man belonging to Banu Harith bin Ka'b, whose name was Abu Awbar, reports: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man came to him and said: You have forbidden people from fasting on Friday. He replied: I have not forbidden people from fasting on Friday, rather I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Do not fast on Friday, because it is a day of Eid, except if you join another day with it (then the ruling is different)." Imam Ibn Hibban (may Allah have mercy on him) says: The statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "in days" refers to any one day.
Hadith 3611
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) came to the house of Lady Juwayriya bint al-Harith (may Allah be pleased with her) on a Friday. She was observing a fast. The Prophet (peace be upon him) asked: Did you fast yesterday? She replied: No. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Do you intend to fast tomorrow? She said: No. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Then break your fast.
