Abdul Malik bin Umair, narrating from a man belonging to Banu Harith bin Ka'b, whose name was Abu Awbar, reports: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) when a man came to him and said: You have forbidden people from fasting on Friday. He replied: I have not forbidden people from fasting on Friday, rather I heard the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "Do not fast on Friday, because it is a day of Eid, except if you join another day with it (then the ruling is different)." Imam Ibn Hibban (may Allah have mercy on him) says: The statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) "in days" refers to any one day.
