Hadith 3600
Abu Ubaid, who was the freed slave of Ibn Azhar, narrates: I participated in Eid along with Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). He arrived and performed the prayer. After completing the prayer, he addressed the people in a sermon and said: These are two days in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting. One is the day when you celebrate Eid al-Fitr after your fasts, and the other is the day when you eat the meat of your sacrifice. The narrator named Abu Ubaid says: I also participated in the Eid prayer behind Sayyiduna Uthman Ghani (may Allah be pleased with him). He arrived and performed the prayer. When he completed the prayer, he addressed the people in a sermon and said: Today, two Eids have come together for you (i.e., today is Eid and also Friday), so whoever among the people of the surrounding areas wishes to wait for Jumu'ah, let him wait, and whoever wishes to return, let him return. I give him permission. The narrator named Abu Ubaid says: Then I participated in the Eid prayer behind Sayyiduna Ali bin Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) at a time when Sayyiduna Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) had been confined to his house. He arrived and performed the prayer. When he completed the prayer, he addressed the people in a sermon.
