Section on Fasting the Day of Doubt - Description of the condition under which this discouraged act is allowed
Hadith 3586
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الُوَلِيدُ ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحِيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تَقَدَّمُوا صِيَامَ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ بِصِيَامِ يَوْمٍ أَوْ يَوْمَيْنِ ، إِلا رَجُلٌ كَانَ يَصُومُ صِيَامًا فَلِيَصُمْهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Do not fast one or two days before the beginning of the month of Ramadan, except for a person who (habitually) fasts, then he may fast on that day.
