Hadith 3580
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْخَلِيلِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْجُمَحِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْجُرَيْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " مَا صَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَهْرًا قَطُّ كَامِلا إِلا رَمَضَانَ ، وَلا أَفْطَرَ شَهْرًا كَامِلا قَطُّ ، وَمَا كَانَ يَصُومُ شَهْرًا أَكْثَرَ مِمَّا كَانَ يَصُومُ فِي شَعْبَانَ " .
Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) never fasted an entire month except for Ramadan, nor did he ever leave fasting for an entire month. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not fast in any other month as much as he fasted in Sha'ban.
Hadith 3581
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الُوَلِيدُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَطَاءُ بْنُ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَامَ الأَبَدَ فَلا صَامَ وَلا أَفْطَرَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): "Whoever always (i.e., daily) observes voluntary fasting, then in reality, he has neither fasted nor left fasting."
