Hadith 3549
Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq, may Allah have mercy on him, narrates from his father (Imam Muhammad al-Baqir, may Allah have mercy on him) the statement of Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with them both: On the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, set out for Makkah. When he reached Kura‘ al-Ghamim, the people were fasting. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked for a cup of water. He raised it until the people began to look at him, then he drank it. After that, it was submitted to him that some people were still fasting. The Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "They are disobedient people, they are disobedient people." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): The statement of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, "They are disobedient people," was used for them because when the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, gave them this command, they did not act upon it, and that command was to break the fast. This does not mean that those people became disobedient because of fasting during travel.
