Chapter on Kissing While Fasting - Permissibility for a fasting man to kiss his wife as long as it does not lead to anything disliked
Hadith 3544
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ الْجُمَحِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الُوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بُكَيْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الأَشَجِّ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الأَنْصَارِيِّ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، قَالَ : هَشَشْتُ ، فَقَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ ، فَجِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ : لَقَدْ صَنَعْتُ الِيَوْمَ أَمْرًا عَظِيمًا ، قَالَ : " وَمَا هُوَ ؟ " ، قُلْتُ : قَبَّلْتُ وَأَنَا صَائِمٌ ، فَقَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَرَأَيْتَ لَوْ مَضْمَضْتَ مِنَ الْمَاءِ ؟ " ، قُلْتُ : إِذًا لا يَضُرُّ ؟ قَالَ : " فَفِيمَ " .
Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once I felt playful, so I kissed (my wife) while I was fasting. I presented myself before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: Today I have committed a great sin. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked: What is that? I replied: I kissed (my wife) while I was fasting. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: What do you think, if you rinse your mouth with water (what will happen to your fast)? I replied: In that case, there will be no harm. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: Then how is this (any different)?
