Chapter on Kissing While Fasting - Permissibility of a man kissing his family while fasting
Hadith 3538
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَلْمٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحِيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ الْحِمِيَرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَيُقَبِّلُ الصَّائِمُ ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " سَلْ هَذِهِ ، أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ " ، فَأَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَدْ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ : " وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي أَتْقَاكُمْ لِلَّهِ وَأَخْشَاكُمْ لَهُ " .
Sayyiduna Umar bin Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He asked the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): Can a fasting person kiss (his wife)? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to him: Ask Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) about this. So Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) informed Sayyiduna Umar bin Abu Salamah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to do so. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Allah Almighty has forgiven your past and future sins, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said to him: By Allah! I am the most fearful of Allah among you and I have the most piety among you.
