Chapter on Breaking the Fast and Hastening It - Recommending breaking the fast before Maghrib prayer
Hadith 3504
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، بِخَبَرٍ غَرِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجُعْفِيُّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " مَا رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَطُّ صَلَّى صَلاةَ الْمَغْرِبِ حَتَّى يُفْطِرَ ، وَلَوْ عَلَى شَرْبَةٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ " .
Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I never saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performing the Maghrib prayer before breaking his fast, even if it was just with a sip of water (that he would break his fast).
