Chapter on Fasting While Junub - Permissibility of fasting if one wakes up junub that day
Hadith 3495
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ هاجكٍ الْعَابِدُ ، بِهَرَاةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَعْمَرٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا يُونُسَ مَوْلَى عَائِشَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْتَفْتِيهِ ، وَهِيَ تَسْمَعُ مِنْ وَرَاءِ الْبَابِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، تُدْرِكُنِي الصَّلاةُ وَأَنَا جُنُبٌ ، أَفَأَصُومُ ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَأَنَا تُدْرِكُنِي الصَّلاةُ وَأَنَا جُنُبٌ فَأَصُومُ " ، فَقَالَ : لَسْتَ مِثْلَنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَكَ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِكَ وَمَا تَأَخَّرَ ، قَالَ : " وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لأَرْجُو أَنْ أَكُونَ أَخْشَاكُمْ لِلَّهِ ، وَأَعْلَمَكُمْ بِمَا أَتَّقِي " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A man came to the service of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) to ask about a matter. Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) was listening to this from behind the door. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! Sometimes the time for (Fajr) prayer comes upon me while I am in a state of major impurity (janabah), so should I fast on that day? The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: Sometimes the prayer also finds me in such a state that I am junub, so I fast. He said: O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! You are not like us. Allah Almighty has forgiven your past and future sins. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: By Allah! I hope that I am the most God-fearing among you and the most knowledgeable about what piety is.
