Chapter on Etiquette of Fasting - Command for the fasting person to say “I am fasting” if insulted
Hadith 3482
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْفُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ صَوْمِ أَحَدِكُمْ ، فَلا يَرْفُثْ ، وَلا يَجْهَلْ ، فَإِنْ جَهِلَ عَلَيْهِ أَحَدٌ ، فَلِيَقُلْ : إِنِّي امْرُؤٌ صَائِمٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "When any one of you is fasting, he should not use foul language nor behave ignorantly. If someone behaves ignorantly towards him, then he should say, 'I am fasting.'"
