Chapter on Sighting the Crescent - Accepting the testimony of a group for sighting the crescent for Eid
Hadith 3456
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحِيَى بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ ، بِتُسْتَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، " أَنَّ عُمُومَةً لَهُ شَهِدُوا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى رُؤِيَةِ الْهِلالِ ، فَأَمَرَهُمُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَخْرُجُوا لِعِيدِهِمْ مِنَ الْغَدِ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: His uncles testified before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that they had sighted the new moon of the first (of Shawwal), so the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ordered the people to go out the next day to perform the Eid prayer.
