Chapter on the Virtue of Ramadan - Clarifying that only the rebellious devils are chained in Ramadan
Hadith 3435
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ بْنِ كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ أَوَّلُ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْ شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ ، صُفِّدَتِ الشَّيَاطِينُ مَرَدَةُ الْجِنِّ ، وَغُلِّقَتْ أَبُوَابُ النَّارِ ، فَلَمْ يُفْتَحْ مِنْهَا بَابٌ ، وَفُتِحَتْ أَبُوَابُ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَلَمْ يُغْلَقْ مِنْهَا بَابٌ ، وَمُنَادٍ يُنَادِي : يَا بَاغِيَ الْخَيْرِ أَقْبَلْ ، وَيَا بَاغِيَ الشَّرِّ أَقْصِرْ ، وَلِلَّهِ عُتَقَاءُ مِنَ النَّارِ ، وَذَلِكَ كُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the first night of the month of Ramadan comes, the devils, that is, the rebellious jinn, are chained. The doors of Hell are closed and none of its doors remain open. The doors of Paradise are opened and none of its doors remain closed. And a caller announces: O seeker of good, come forward! O seeker of evil, desist! Allah frees some people from the Fire, and this happens every night."
