Chapter on the Virtue of Ramadan - Affirming Allah’s forgiveness for those who fast Ramadan with faith and seeking reward
Hadith 3432
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفِيَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلادٍ الْبَاهِلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ يَحِيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ صَامَ رَمَضَانَ إِيمَانًا وَاحْتِسَابًا ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " ، قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : " إِيمَانًا " ، يُرِيدُ بِهِ : إِيمَانًا بِفَرْضِهِ ، " وَاحْتِسَابًا " : يُرِيدُ بِهِ مُخْلِصًا فِيهِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and seeking reward, his past sins are forgiven." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:): The words "with faith" mean: whoever believes in its obligation, and "seeking reward" means that he is sincere in his action.
