Chapter on the Virtue of Fasting - Clarifying that fasting is a shield from the Fire, protecting the servant from Hell
Hadith 3427
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي السَّرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : هَذَا مَا حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَذَكَرَ أَحَادِيثَ ، وَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates: These are the hadiths that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, narrated before us. Then he narrated some hadiths among which it was also mentioned that the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Fasting is a shield."
