Chapter: Virtue of Fasting – Clarifying That When the Fasting Enter the Gate of Rayyan, It Will Be Closed to Others
Hadith 3420
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعِجْلِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ بِلالٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ بَابًا يُقَالُ لَهُ : الرَّيَّانُ ، يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُ الصَّائِمُونَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، لا يَدْخُلُ مِنْهُ أَحَدٌ غَيْرُهُمْ ، يُقَالُ : أَيْنَ الصَّائِمُونَ ؟ فَيَقُومُونَ ، فَيَدْخُلُونَ مِنْهُ ، فَإِذَا دَخَلَ آخِرُهُمْ أُغْلِقَ ، فَلَمْ يَدْخُلْ مِنْهُ أَحَدٌ " .
Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “In Paradise, there is a gate called ‘Rayyan’. On the Day of Resurrection, those who fast will enter through it; no one else will enter through it. It will be announced: Where are those who fasted? They will stand up, and they will enter Paradise through that gate. When the last of them has entered, the gate will be closed, and no one else will be able to enter through it.”
