Chapter: Asking and Receiving – Warning Against Taking Worldly Goods Through Asking or Greed
1 hadith
Hadith 3401
Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) stated this on the pulpit of Damascus: Beware, be cautious regarding the hadiths of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and also about that hadith which occurred during the era of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), because he used to instill fear of Allah in people. He narrates: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "When Allah intends good for a person, He grants him understanding of the religion." And I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say, "I am a treasurer; if I give something to someone with my pleasure, then there will be blessing in it for that person. And if I give something to someone because of his asking or because of his greed, then his example is like that of a person who eats but is never satisfied."
