Hadith 3389
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ قَحْطَبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبَانَ الْقُرَشِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ مُنَبِّهٍ ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ ، سَمِعَهُ مِنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا تُلْحِفُوا فِي الْمَسْأَلَةِ ، فَوَاللَّهِ لا يَسْأَلُنِي أَحَدٌ مِنْكُمْ شَيْئًا ، فَتُخْرِجَ لَهُ مَسْأَلَتُهُ مِنِّي شَيْئًا ، وَأَنَا لَهُ كَارِهٌ ، فَيُبَارَكُ لَهُ فِيهِ " .
Sayyiduna Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Do not cling while asking (for something). By Allah! Whoever among you asks for anything, and because of his asking I give it to him while being displeased, then there will be no blessing placed in it for him."
