Sayyiduna Abu Dharr Ghifari رضي الله عنه narrates that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: "For every breath a person takes, he is required to give charity every day in which the sun rises." It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم! How can we afford to give so much charity?" The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم replied: "There are many doors of goodness: saying «سبحان اللہ», saying «الحمداللہ», saying «اللہ اکبر», reciting «لا اله الا اللہ», enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing something harmful from the path, making something clear to a deaf person, guiding a blind person, guiding someone who asks for direction regarding a matter, striving to help a distressed person due to the strength of your legs, lifting a burden for a weak person due to the strength of your arms — all these are charity from you for your own self."
